GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

To cover the costs of participation, you have several options:

  • you or your organisation will cover the course costs (LINK)
  • you will find a sponsor to enable you to participate, see also www.grantfinder.nl
  • you take part with through the Erasmus Lifelong learning programme or Huygens Scholarship Programme (HSP)
  • you may apply for a fellowship of the Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP)

ERASMUS

The Erasmus Programme is a component of the European programme ‘LifeLong Learning’ from the European Commission for mobility of higher education in Europe. This programme promotes education and training at all stages of people’s lives across Europe.

HUYGENS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

The Huygens Scholarship Programme (HSP) is open to students from all countries of the world. It is aimed at excellent students who want to come to the Netherlands in the final phase of their bachelor’s studies or during their master’s studies.

NETHERLANDS FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMMES

The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) are demand-driven fellowship programmes designed to promote institutional development. The NFP target group consists of mid-career professionals who are in employment. NFP-fellowships cover your travel costs, accommodation and course fee. NFP is funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the budget for development co-operation, and run by NUFFIC, the Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education.  In each of the 61 participating countries, a  fellowship officer is attached to the embassy or consulate (www.mfa.nl/en)

NFP Step by Step

The NFP procedure is currently under review. We expect that the new procedure will be implemented as from October 2010. It might have consequences for the way your application is being proceeded. Every embassy or consulate will inform you about changes too. Until further notice, the procedure is follows:

First apply to CHE for admission to one of our courses.

If your candidature is eligible you will receive a letter indicating that you have been (provisionally) accepted.

Contact the Netherlands embassy to apply for a fellowship of the NFP and hand over the admission letter of CHE. You will have to complete a NFP application form. Candidates are always advised to check any local regulations with the Netherlands embassy in their country. Candidates should NOT send their fellowship application forms directly to Nuffic or to the Dutch provider, but should forward them to the Netherlands embassy or consulate in their own country.

When you meet the NFP criteria, the fellowship officer will forward your application to Nuffic in the Netherlands.

Nuffic decides how many fellowships will be available for each course and will forward the list of candidates to CHE.

CHE will select the candidates for the NFP fellowships and will inform you and the Netherlands embassy about the outcome.

Three-year rule

Please note that as of the 1 November 2009 NFP application deadline candidates are not allowed to have received a fellowship in the three years prior to the start of the proposed short course.

The CHE’s application form is available in different types. Choose the option, which is most convenient for you.
