Nursing: orientation in research methods

Introduction

Bachelor nurses are trained in many different fields: from direct nursing care to development and implementation of new nursing procedures; from coordination of patient care to presenting new scientific facts to colleagues. Come to our international course in the Netherlands and learn about research and research methods. During this course you will work together in small groups of students and you will be provided with a request to evaluate existing nursing habits or procedures.

 

For whom it is intended

Do you want to experience Nursing in the Netherlands? Do you want to meet other students in an international group? Are you a 2nd  or 3rd year nursing student doing your Bachelor degree in Nursing? This course may have been designed for you!

 

Your work field

Coordination of health care, design of care programmes, nursing policies and quality testing of nursing procedures

 

Methodology

Students work in groups of 4 and report to the tutor. These groups consist of Dutch students and international fellow students.

 

Contents of the training programme

Besides the group work students receive theory one day a week. Topics covered are:

·         Research methods: its purpose and applications

·         Planning and time management

·         An introduction to healthcare in the Netherlands

 

Type of diploma

Certificate with 15 ECTS

 

Requirements for admission

At least 2nd or 3rd year nursing students and proof of your English language ability. If you do not have proof then one of your academic referees must comment on your suitability for studying in English at this university.

 

Duration of study and fees 

6 February 2012 until 27 April 2012

For students who will not attend through a fellowship of the Erasmus program the course fees are € 2.100,00 (excluding travel, accommodation, study materials, insurance and visa costs).
